Call for solidarity with #RuymánLibertad, anarchist repressed, tortured and persecuted by the Spanish state for housing the poor 24.3.2021

Source - Call for solidarity with Ruymán Rodríguez, anarchist repressed, tortured and persecuted by the Spanish state for housing the poor - Green Anti-Capitalist Media 3.3.2021 by GAF London

We are publishing an statement sent to us by GAF London as well as a translation of the one released by Federación Anarquista Gran Canaria. You can see the amazing work the FAGC does by listening to our recent interview with one of them. Please remember that Green Anti-capitalist Media simply publishes what we receive and we don’t necessarily endorse or condone any of the opinions it contains.

Here is the statement by GAF London followed by the translation bellow.

We’ve translated an statement published by the Federación Anarquista Gran Canaria (Gran Canaria Anarquist Federation) where they detail the political persecution of their member Ruymán Rodríguez, who is facing false charges to cover up the brutal violence they inflicted upon him as part of a ploy to repress the radical housing movement in Gran Canaria. The FAGC he’s part of has been involved in a very successful social movement for housing in Gran Canaria and has helped hundreds of families left abandoned by the state. Like any other threat to its legitimacy, the state couldn’t allow this to continue unchallenged.

This happens as the protests for the political incarceration of Catalan anti-fascist rapper Pablo Hasél continue. And in fact just as it’s announced that 8 anarchists have been arrested accused without evidence of participating in the burning of a police van during these protests. This is clearly a move against the whole of the anarchist and anti-authoritarian movement, which they seek to use as the scapegoat to try to smother the flames of revolt spreading all over the Spanish state after years of pent up rage for the many injustices the people have suffered under it.

It’s also difficult not to notice the significance of this happening only a day after we remembered the anniversary of the death of Salvador Puig, an anti-capitalist killed by the Francoist regime in what became the last death sentence in Spain to date, precipitating the end of the dictatorship soon after. As we can see, the transition to democracy made little difference in stopping the political repression or solve any of the issues accosting the people. Rather, it has allowed for the crimes of the dictatorship to go unpunished and for all the institutions that create misery for the people, such as the guarcia civil that tortured Ruy, to continue operating unchallenged. This is the nature of democracies: a more stable and cunning form of domination.

We therefore cannot see this as anything else but the continuation of the campaign of social warfare states wage against their people to keep them under their rule. This war is always takes place unilaterally by the state even when there’s not significant opposition to it, but it escalates as soon as its subjects attempt to fight back by abandoning the useless calls for civility and non-violence, the meaningless gestures, marches and electoral aspirations. The arrival of the “most progressive government in the history of the democracy” in Spain has done nothing to stop this. And in fact, it has allowed it to continue more efficiently and brutal than ever by buying the support of parts of the left with electoral promises of representation.

It’s in this context that we call on all members of the international anarchist, anti-authoritarian and antifascist movement to extend their solidarity to Ruymán Rodríguez and the FAGC as well as to everyone else suffering the repression of the Spanish state. Just as they ramp up their campaign of violence, so must we increase the intensity of our fight for freedom. Messages and shows of solidarity are needed, but also actions that target the state and its institutions. No matter in what part of the world you find yourself, our enemy is the same. And any threat to one of its parts affects the whole. Let them feel the fear of those who won’t bow down to their violence.

Solidarity with Ruymán Rodríguez!

Solidarity with the victims of state violence!

Burn down the prisons, free all prisoners!

Crowdfunding for the making of the documentary "Durruti: Son of the people"

"Durruti: Son of the People" is a documentary-research project that seeks to reconstruct the anarchist Buenaventura Durruti's life

Through different audiovisual resources such as recreations, animations, interviews with relatives of Durruti, testimonies of historians, we will enter into a historical plot that goes from the 1917 strike to the social revolution in 1936, through the CNT rise, the years of the "killer patronal", the Primo de Rivera dictatorship and the Second Republic.

The idea is to investigate who this historical character was. Within the documentary will be shown the historical research works and will appear the many locations where Durruti's life went. We will also use the narrative resource of different voices to narrate the anecdotes and appreciations left by historical characters that coexisted with Durruti. For all this we are doing a work of historical documentation. The interviews with historians and researchers who have worked on the subject have a great weight within the documentary. To reconstruc the story we have personal photographs given by the CNT archives as well as material from the National Film Archive. To reconstruct some scenes we will use drawings made by the cartoonist Agustín Comotto and will use reconstructions of some other scenaries.

If we overcome the barrier of 12,000 euros we could do some reconstructions

The idea is that the documentary takes a cinematographic look.

SOME PEOPLE TO INTERVIEW

Some of the people whose participation is confirmed in the documentary are those following:

Juan Mariné, the man who filmed Durruti's funeral: https://www.publico.es/culturas/cine-juan-marine-hombre-filmo-entierro-durruti.html

Marta Durruti:  Buenaventura Durruti family memberf: http://elespiadigital.com/index.php/tribuna-libre/17955-entrevista-a-marta-durruti-que-venga-pepe-y-lo-arregle

Dolors Marín: Doctor in Contemporary History from the Barcelona  University with a thesis on the formation of the libertarian culture in Catalonia and the organization of anarchist affinity groups.

About the rewards

All contributions are rewarded with a link to visualize the documentary. For the realization of the documentary we have illustrations by Agustín Comotto whose plates are part of the rewards as well as the poster of the documentary that will be done by hand at the Can Batlló Colective Printing Company (fcbk).

http://www.agustincomotto.com

We have also design some cloth bags with the phrase "we bring a new world in our hearts" that will be delivered with contributions of over 30 euros.

About us

Pewmafilm and ungovernable productions try to use the audiovisual resources to bring light to those stories and points of view that have no place in the mass media. We are part of ACATS (Associació Col·lectiva Audiovisual per a la Transformació Social)

Along these years we have made documentaries about the Mapuche people struggle (The Return of the Weichafe), the anarchist movement in Catalonia (Ingobernables a tour by the anarchist Catalonia), the social struggles in Catalonia (Poble Rebel), about the application of anti-terrorist law to social movements (The government of fear) or the last work funded by verkami "In the Breach, anarchists against Franco".

The objective is to use audiovisual creation to fight neoliberal hegemonic thinking and to carry out a work of social conscience that favors a social transformation towards a more just, free and equal society. We have been making documentaries and videos about social struggles for years, just as we have made hundreds of presentations with thousands of people who during this time have seen our work.

Political Reprisals Denounce The Spanish State In The European Parliament (video)

Source - REPRESALIADOS POLÍTICOS DENUNCIAN AL ESTADO ESPAÑOL EN EL PARLAMENTO EUROPEO (VÍDEO) — Canarias-semanal.org 25.5.2018

The difficulties of the Spanish State institutions to justify their repressive escalation abroad are increasing.

The complaints due to trials against Journalists, singers, separatist, communists or simple twitterers has arrived to the point that some of them have managed to get their voice heard in the European Parliament itself.

During the last Thursday morning, the rapper Pablo Hasel, the members of La Insurgencia and Resistencia Film or the journalist of La Haine and Kaosenlared Boro LH participated in a conference on the attacks on freedom of expression and press in Brussels by the Green Group .

In their appearances, the reprisals denounced the political nature of the processes opened against them.

The attached video shows on these lines the moment in which Boro LH breaks a picture of Franco, Kings Juan Carlos and King Felipe VI. "Franco I, Franco II and Franco III", the journalist pointed out to make this symbolic act in defense of freedom, for which other young people in the Spanish State were also prosecuted.

After the conference, Boro LH and Pablo Hasel shared in the social networks a picture and a message in which they glimpsed a justified skepticism about what can be expected from the institutions of the EU imperialist project, while appreciating the importance of having been able to count on an international showcase to spread his complaint

"Agur Brussels !! Not much is known, but at least they heard us #EuropaNosVaAOir - in Brussels Airport".

Amazon slammed for sacking 100 workers after strike action

Source- Spain Amazon slammed for sacking 100 workers after strike action | Morning Star

SPANISH trade unionists have condemned the sacking of more than 100 Amazon workers following strike action last month.

The General Confederation of Labour (CGT) accused the global logistics company of victimising trade unionists who walked out in a 48-hour stoppage after the introduction of new terms that reduce wages and benefits.

Amazon’s temporary workforce took strike action at the San Fernando de Henares site on March 21 and 22 and are due to walk out again tomorrow.

However the company decided not to renew the contracts of more than 100 temporary staff before the action, which the CGT said was “politically motivated.”

CGT representative on Amazon’s workers committee Marc Blanes said the sackings were unprecedented and he believed that the contracts were not renewed as a reprisal for the employees’ support for the strike.

Amazon dismissed claims their decision was linked to the strike action and said it was due to low demand. However, staff at the site said that layoffs were unusual at this time of year.

Strike action was supported by 98 per cent of the staff at the Amazon site, which has around 2,000 workers, 900 of whom are on precarious contracts.

Some of the temporary workers have been working at the site for 16 months and yet are employed on short-term contracts lasting a week or 15 days.

Under the new terms, pay would be frozen and additional hours payments would be slashed while sick pay would be cut in half.

Unions have called for a day of protest in Madrid today, with action being considered for the company’s biggest sales days including Prime Day and Black Friday.

Meetings are being held with Italian unions to plan joint actions.

SPANISH FASCISTS AND ULTRANATIONALISTS PROVOKE FIRST ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN THE “CATALAN REPUBLIC” | EL ROBOT PESCADOR

Source - SPANISH FASCISTS AND ULTRANATIONALISTS PROVOKE FIRST ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN THE “CATALAN REPUBLIC” | EL ROBOT PESCADOR

Following the proclamation of the Catalan Republic, in what appears to be a merely symbolic act of reaffirmation, thousands of people filled the streets, most of them to celebrate the birth of the Catalan Republic, and some others to protest and demand that Catalonia remain in Spain.
The images we have seen, show us that both of them really belong to different nations and that there is a huge difference in the character of both movements, in terms of tolerance and democratic sense.
Those who celebrated the birth of the Catalan Republic celebrated it in a festive, peaceful and calm way.
His sense of tolerance and respect for other ideas is demonstrated in these images of the Plaza de Sant Jaume, in front of the Generalitat building, where we see people demonstrating with Spanish flags in the middle of the celebration of independence, without any incident or confrontation.
Instead, in the Spanish unionist movement, we have seen signs of FASCISM and VIOLENCE against those who think differently, AS ALWAYS.
The violent attitudes and aggressions shown below, on the part of radical and violent Spanish ultranationalists in Catalonia, have not been condemned by any Spanish political party and have been ignored in the majority of Spanish media. It’s the usual complicit silence about fascist practices in the Spanish Regime.
The Spanish ultranationalist aggressions have been the ONLY CASES OF VIOLENCE in Catalonia, both before and after the proclamation of the Catalan Republic.
Fascists have attacked schools, the media and people on the streets. This is their concept of ‘democracy’.
At least five people were injured on Friday night during the unionist demonstration that took place in the streets of Barcelona. Two of the injured have been teachers at CIC High School, and the third, a man in a bar. The other two injured, have been young people at Paseo de Gracia.
Protesters have stopped at the gates of the CIC school and insulted the people in the centre. At times, they have even faced students, the majority of whom are minors. Inside the school, there have been moments of fear. Later, the school has confirmed that two teachers have been assaulted, but that the students have not been harmed.
Here you can see the FASCISTS attacking the school. Why? Because this school had a banner saying “Democracy”
This is happening in 21st century Europe, with the support of the governments of the European Union: attacks on schools and attacks on teachers, attacks on media, to think differently, in the purest NAZI style.
Simply put, FASCIST PRACTICES.
In their infinite cynicism, these fascists say that “they are going to defend democracy”. Can you believe it?
Their “democracy” is based on aggression against the people who does not think like them.
These same radical ultranationalists have organized marches of support for the police who repressed and savagely assaulted the people who voted in the October 1 referendum. In other words, they applaud repression and violence against those who think differently. This is FASCISM.
Another man was injured on Mallorca Street in Barcelona, when a group of Spanish ultra-nationalists attacked people outside a bar. A man with a balaclava has punched another man on the nose who was shouting “freedom”. The man has fallen to the ground and, with help, has entered the bar with his nose bleeding”.
Two other people had to be admitted to the Sant Pau hospital for minor contusions.
In addition, violent mobs have also attacked the installations of Catalunya Radio, the Catalan public radio station, because this medium does not repeat the lies and manipulations of the Spanish Regime and, for example, does not hide or justify FASCIST aggressions, as the Spanish media do.
The violent mob also attacked journalists of the Betevé de Barcelona municipal channel.
The attacks have been repeated again on 29 October, following the demonstration for the unit of Spain organized by the entity called Sociedad Civil Catalana (SCC), known as the Catalan Civil Society (SCC) for their fascist ties.
Representatives of all the political parties of the Regime have been present (right wing PP and Ciudadanos, even the socialists of the PSOE-PSC), all of them ignoring the fascist ties of the convening entity.
After the demonstration, there have been numerous attacks by ultra-Spanish nationalists and, as usual, the Spanish media have hidden it from Spanish public opinion.
A taxi driver was attacked with a beer. He ended up with an eyebrow injury and was transferred to the Hospital Sant Pau. The images show his bloodstained shirt.
The Spanish fascists have also attacked many other people, such as a worker of the Catalan Railways, at Barcelona’s Provença station.
There have also been attacks against the Catalan media.
Some protesters have thrown coins, lit cigarettes and spittle at journalists of catalan television TV3.
An attendee at the unionist demonstration attacked a journalist from another Catalan media outlet, El Nacional, on the Paseo de Gràcia in Barcelona while he was doing his job and filming those attending the demonstration. The events have taken place in the press area.
The FASCISTS have also attacked the Catalan police, the Mossos d’ Esquadra in the Plaza de Sant Jaume and other people who were there.
The ultras shouted slogans in support of the fascist dictator, Francisco Franco.
As you can see, this is the meaning of the “for the unity of Spain”demonstrations that are taking place in Barcelona these last few weeks.
Assaults, insults, violence.
NAZISM AND FASCISM.
And after seeing all these aggressions, the President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, congratulated these violent and FASCIST demonstrators for their attitude with a tweet in which he speaks of “coexistence” and “concord”.
All this with the support of the governments of the European Union.
This is the wonderful “Unity of Spain” offered to Catalans and its “concord and cohabitation”.
No wonder so many of them want to flee from such a profoundly sick country and intolerant.
Yes, this is what is happening in Catalonia, where fascist and neo-Nazi Spanish ultranationalist groups attack the Catalans who do not think like them.
Fascism and Nazism in 21st century Europe, with the support of the “democratic” governments of the European Union.
Why does the European Union support fascist violence and the repression of democracy?

European friends, if you tolerate this, you will be next.
